Emily’s Diary Entry

Dear Diary,

I woke up this morning and my mum and dad were downstairs chatting about something. I thought it was nothing but it was serious because of the sound in my mum’s voice. MY AUNTIE BETTY HAS COPPED IT! I felt horrible, sad and angry because it’s not fair because humans don’t die and we do. I went in and said is it true that my Auntie Betty is dead. They said yes. Then I said I’m gonna find out how humans don’t die and we do.

Ella’s Diary Entry

Dear Diary,

I woke up this morning after a really good dream. I went downstairs for my lovely breakfast and I heard the dreadful news that my Auntie Betty has copped it. She was so loving and kind. I loved her, she was my favourite auntie in the entire world. I was upset and felt sorry for Auntie Betty so I went up to my room and started crying. I really miss my Auntie Betty so so much.

Connie’s Diary Entry

Dear Diary,

I woke up this morning and went down to get breakfast and I heard Ma and Pa talking. They told me that my Auntie Betty has copped it. Oh no! Where? Just down the road, bad place to cross my dad said. Why can humans cross the road? I do not know but I will find out. I feel upset because I really miss my auntie so much. She used to play games with me each day.

Rihanna’s Diary Entry

Dear Diary,

Today, I woke up very early and my mum told me that auntie Betty was dead. I burst into tears. I was so depressed. It is so unfair. Why can people cross roads and hedgehogs can’t? I cried and cried and cried until I came down when I had an idea. I should investigate why humans can cross the road safely. I thought and thought again. I got really down thinking about Auntie Betty. I want to cross the road safely.

Wojtek’s Diary Entry

Dear diary,

Today, I woke up very early because I heard my mum and dad crying and I asked my dad what are you talking about but he said none of your business.

Then, I was shocked because my Auntie Betty has copped it and I asked my dad where Betty copped it? Just down the road when she was trying to cross. I don’t know whether she wanted to get some worms. I am going to find out where my auntie is and how humans cross the road and they don’t get squished. I want to find out!

Jakub’s Play Script

The Hodgeheg

Pa: Your Auntie Betty has copped it.

Ma: Oh no! Where?

Pa: Just down the road, opposite the newsagents. Bad place to cross that.

Ma: Everywhere’s a bad place to cross nowadays. The traffic’s dreadful. Do you realise that’s the third this year and all on my side of the family. First, there was grandfather, then my second cousin once removed and now poor old Auntie Betty.

Ma: Well I suppose it is their business because soon they will be going to the park.

Max: How come humans don’t get ran over.

Pa: You tell me, son. You tell me.
